Melrose and Rio Vista 1st-Grade Teachers,

Our annual Read for the Record event is quickly approaching, and we are excited to see you on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

Student Meet & Greet: 9:20 a.m.

Welcome: 9:30 a.m.

Event Ends: 11:20 a.m.

Please plan to arrive at Valadez no later than 9:20 a.m. and review the schedule for detailed times and activities.

Reminders:

As soon as you receive your books, please drop them off at Valadez.

All students must wear a visible name tag. If a student cannot be photographed, mark their name tag with a large red dot.

The event will follow the same format as previous years. Students will enjoy a small snack, and each will take home a bag of goodies, including the book.

Have students dress in Hawaiian/Garden attire. It's Red Ribbon Week, and the Valadez students will be dressed up (Lei off drugs).

Community Service Project:
On October 16, I will deliver donation bottles. Please let your students know we are collecting money to support Miraloma Park and Family Resource Center, which ties in nicely with the book’s message and supports our local neighborhoods. The winning class from each school will earn an ice cream party. Be sure to bring your bottles with you to Valadez on October 30.
